Cytology Star Cap Lids are used to recap Thin Prep Vials when using the Roche Cobas 4800 System. This allows the lab to dispose of the initial patient cap when setting up the instrument and recap with a new one to eliminate the time consuming tracking of each patient cap. Furthermore using new caps eliminates the risk of cross contamination when testing for high-risk HPV (Human Papillomavirus), individual HPV 16 & HPV 18 genotype testing for cervical cancer.
